Neom Luxury Organics Reed Diffuser Review

Along with my love of all things beauty related I am also slightly obsessed with interior décor and making our home a comfortable and cosy but stylish place to be. This blog post is probably more relevant to that side of things so I would love to know if you would be interested in more posts like this about any home
improvements, decoration etc.

I’m not a fan of plug in air fresheners at all for two reasons. It doesn’t sit well with me to use electricity just to scent my house when a candle or diffuser does just as well and also I find the synthetic scents hard to bear. Perhaps because I grew up in a house that never had any kind of air fresheners or maybe my nose is just sensitive but I can’t cope with overpowering scents in my home. They either make me sneeze or give me a headache, or both. However, as I have two dogs and an extreme weakness for a hot curry some kind of air freshener is pretty much essential!

Last Christmas I tried one that gave a burst of fragrance whenever it sensed movement near it which drove my dogs mad! I had it in a festive Christmassy scent (spiced apple or something along those lines) and although I didn’t think the scent was unpleasant, it was really strong for the first few minutes and then totally disappeared within 10 minutes! My feeling about this type of air freshener is that they’re a bit gimmicky. So from that point onwards I decided I was going to stop wasting money on the cheaper options and accept that as far as room fragrance/air fresheners go you really do get what you pay for.

My go-to option is usually scented candles by Dyptique which I absolutely love and I do think the rather extortionate price tag is justifiable as they smell immense when they are burning, but although the scent does linger a good while after burning they do not provide a constant scent, this is what led me to the reed diffuser. I’ve tried cheaper reed diffusers in the past but again, struggled with the synthetic scent so when I saw the Neom organic reed diffuser made from a high quality blend of pure essential oils I had to give it a try.

I ordered mine from QVC for around the £26 mark plus P&P. They are available from various other online retailers, and once you have the diffuser you can purchase refill bottles for a more affordable £18. They are clearly not cheap and some people might think it’s crazy to spend this amount of money on an air freshener however I honestly think they are worth the money as the scent is so beautiful and is made from organic essential oils so you are not breathing in any nasty chemicals. The Natural reed sticks absorb the oil blend in the bottle and gradually diffuse the scent into your home.

These diffusers are available in several scent options that are each made up from various essential oils. I chose to try the ‘Real Luxury’ scent which is a blend of Lavender, Jasmine and Brazilian Rosewood. I’m not a huge fan of lavender but combined with the other scents It smells absolutely amazing, like an expensive spa or high end body products. It is without doubt the nicest smelling reed diffuser I have come across. The scent really lasts but isn’t too overpowering and if you are using it in a smaller room or prefer the scent to be more subtle you can just use fewer of the reeds in the bottle so the strength of the fragrance is reduced.

The packaging of the diffuser is stylish but simple: a frosted glass bottle with a pale wooden effect wide rim and the dark coloured reeds, which I feel wouldn’t look out of place in any room and would fit in with various styles and colour schemes. This is what mine looks like on my bookcase in my living room:

I’m currently waiting for my refill to be delivered which is why there is not much of the fragrance oil left in the bottle but, on another positive note, this will be the first time I refill and I purchased it at least 6 months ago, if not longer, so it has lasted really well and has not lost its scent at all, you just need to turn the reeds about once a fortnight to keep it fresh. Considering it is marketed as lasting 5 weeks (!) I was very pleasantly surprised.

I will definitely continue to buy products from this range, I’m currently eyeing up the diffuser in the ‘Refresh’ scent made from Sicilian lemon and basil. Neom also make other products including candles and room sprays which I will definitely be trying in the near future.
