I discovered Pearl Drops Pro White toothpaste before my wedding in the summer and haven’t been without it since. I was blessed genetically with good teeth, I don’t have any fillings and my dentist is always very complementary about the health of my teeth and gums but I drink coffee and red wine and do all those thingsthat can result in stain build up so they do tend to have a yellowish tinge to them.
I had hoped to have my teeth professionally whitened before the big day but when the time came I just couldn't stretch the budget to it so I thought I would invest in one of the more expensive whitening toothpastes in the hope that it might make a slight difference. Well to say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement!
I chose Pearl drops pro white which contains a clinically proven professional ingredient, Perlite. According to the marketing blurb this is used by dentists to effectively yet safely whiten teeth by removing stubborn stains, as well as plaque. It claims to be gentle enough to use every day, to help keep smiles safe from tea, coffee, red wine, coke and even smoking by bringing back their natural shine and whiteness.
It retails for around the £5-6 mark but I have seen it on offer at a significant reduction in both chemists and supermarkets so it is worth stocking up if you can catch one of these offers.
I started using it every morning and evening after my regular toothpaste and within a day or two started noticing my teeth looked less yellow and had a nice shine to them. Within a week I was complemented by numerous friends and family members and was even asked if I had had them professionally whitened!
I used it right up until my wedding day and I was delighted with the final result, my teeth look very clean and white without having an obvious fake whiteness (like Ross in that episode of Friends!) It definitely made a difference to my confidence in front of the camera on the day knowing my teeth wouldn’t look yellow on the wedding pictures. I personally feel however polished your hair and makeup is, stained yellow teeth can really detract from your efforts, in particular when wearing white as this just accentuates that your teeth are not white!
The toothpaste has quite a chemically taste to it but it’s not unpleasant. It is a slightly runnier consistency than regular toothpaste and has small blue granules in it which I presume act as a kind of exfoliator if you like, to remove stains. I find I pea sized amount is sufficient so although the bottle is small it does last longer than I had first expected.
I occasionally suffer from slight sensitive teeth and I know that teeth whitening can exacerbate this problem but I can honestly say I have not experienced any sensitivity since using this product. I really can’t fault it so if you want nice shiny white teeth without the £100’s price tag for professional whitening then I highly recommend this product!
There are three lines of products by pearl drops: daily which this one is, transform including a brush on corrector, and nourish and protect which include options for those with sensitive teeth and for older teeth. It’s a comprehensive range with something for everyone. My next purchase will be the transform Hollywood smile which claims to whiten teeth up to 4 shades in 3 weeks, too good to be true? We will see but I have high hopes…
