My Skincare Routine

My bathroom cabinet
My skincare routine does change and evolve to trial new products but this is what I would consider to be my holy grail routine and regular use of these products together gives me great results.
In the morning I use either Clarins Water Purify One-Step Cleanser if i'm in a rush, which i reviewed here, or
Bobbi Brown Lathering Tube Soap. This contains a coconut extract derivative which gives a gentle but deep cleanse, and apricot oil to hydrate the skin. I love this product as it gives my skin such a clean feeling without stripping it and leaving it sensitive. It really suits my combination skin. You simply rub together with a little bit of warm water and massage onto damp skin then rinse. This product does remove make up well but I prefer to use it in the morning as it wakes me up nicely!

I also use the Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains in with this about 3 times a week. This is such a useful product as you can add the grains to your favourite cleanser and they are gentle but feel rough enough that you know they are doing something. They are made from Japanese adzuki bean powder and as with any exfoliator they remove dry skin and encourage cell turnover. My face glows after I use these two products together.

I then use either Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Tonic or Caudalie beauty elixir before applying my Elemis Pro Collagen Marine cream. I have tried MANY moisturisers in the past and seriously nothing comes close to this, I absolutely adore it. I love the smell, I love the lightweight texture and I really love that it has noticeable effects immediately. Elemis say you should notice a difference in your skin after two weeks but if I stop using this and then go back to it I notice a difference after the first application – it is amazing! I love Elemis as a brand and am yet to try a product that I didn’t like but this is the winner for me and I’m not the only one as it has won loads of awards and regularly features in magazines top beauty picks.

I finish off with a sweep of my Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-puffing Eye Massage under and around my eye area (excuse the chew marks in the picture - my mums naughty puppy got hold of it!)

In the evening I like to remove most of my make up with Bioderma before massaging in some Elemis Pro-Radiance cream cleanser. A lot of people really love Liz Earl cleanse and polish but for me this is a far superior hot cloth cleanser. As well as cleansing the skin it is incredibly moisturising. The impressive list of ingredients includes Sweet Brazilian Orange, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Moringa seed extract which defends against pollutants, Greta Burduck which helps to balance the skin and Noni and Assai fruits which have high levels of anti-oxidants. You leave this on for 5 minutes so your skin can soak in all the ingredients and any remaining grime or makeup dissolves and then gently remove with a hot cloth, I like to use Washi cloths which can be found here.

I then tone with the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Skin Tonic and applying my Elemis Pro Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream.

I do use serums, facial oils and masks but these change depending on what my skin needs, I will write up a post about these separately.

I hope you've found this interesting, obviously skincare is quite personal as what works on one skin type might not work for another but quite a few of the products I have mentioned are suitable for all skin types. I'd love to know if you use any of these products and what your skincare favourites are?

  1. I love the detail you've put into this post - so much better because its easier to relate and know how to use the products :) x

  2. ah thanks Jessica :) let me know what you think if you try any of them xx

  3. Great post. I love seeing what people use. I'm tempted to get the Clinique Eye Cream as you don't have any bags or circles under your eyes!

I like to use a hot cloth cleanser too, so I use Olay Regenerist Warming Wash, as it smells so nice, its purple and works amazingly well on my skin.

    1. Ah thanks Nicola! Trust me i do suffer from bags and circles but i really love this product to help banish them! I will have to check out the Olay wash :)

Thank you so much for reading my blog, it always makes my day to read your comments and I try to reply to as many as possible but if you have a direct question please feel free to tweet me @OTDTblog :) x
