Product of the week #4 Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara Review

I was lucky enough to receive this little gem for Christmas from my lovely Husband. I had coveted it for a while after hearing Tanya Burr talk about it and I am definitely not disappointed. I can see how some people may deem this a totally unnecessary product when you are already applying your regular mascara to your top
lashes but the extra few minutes it may take you in the morning will pay off when, by the end of the day, all of the product you applied is still on your lower lashes rather than having flaked/rubbed off onto your under eye area and making its way down your cheeks! Having said that it isn't one of those mascaras that you avoid wearing just because you know how much of a nightmare they are to get off! I find it removes really well with either an oil based cleanser (I am currently using Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil) or a mi-cellar water (Hello Bioderma).

The formulation is incredible, and for me that makes it a totally worthwhile product to own. The other great thing about this mascara is the wand as it has obviously been specifically designed for use of the lower lashes so it is thin and shaped like a cone with a really fine pointed end that reaches those annoying hard to reach lashes at the corner of your eye with no trouble, and those are the ones you want to emphasise if you are trying to achieve a wide eyed look. The wand works perfectly at placing the product where it needs to be without any smudges on your skin, which I find quite difficult with larger mascara brushes because my bottom lashes are quite long so I inevitably touch my skin with the brush while trying to coat them right to the tips.

I don’t think it will be long before high street versions of this appear but the test will be in the formulation as I’m not sure if I would bother with the different wand if it wasn't such a great product at staying put, we shall see. But for now, if you have any spare cash go and pick one of these babies up – you won’t regret it!

  1. I really liked the idea of this. I often find that my mascara ends up smudging into a big messy grey cloud under my eyes and its the worst! Maybe I just need something a bit more hard wearing but I really love the sound of this one :) x
