How I Style My Hair - My Favourite Remington Hair Appliances

Top: Remington Pro Big Curl. Bottom: Remington Pearl Wand
Hi guys, how are you all? I want to start by saying a big thank you to those of you who regularly come back and read my blog. I've had some really lovely comments recently and I’m not joking when I say it makes my day when someone takes the time to let me know they enjoyed a post or purchased a product that they love
after reading my blog, I never knew what a rewarding hobby writing a blog would be, so Thank you!

Today I’m talking about my hair and how I like to style it. I’m a big fan of the minimal effort look; I am the original ‘beachy waves’ kind of girl. I remember long before Bumble and bumble Surf Spray came onto the scene I used to head straight to the sea whenever I was on holiday because I loved how my hair looked soaked in sea water and left to dry in the sun! It makes me wince now how little I cared about the damage I was doing – the ignorance of youth!

These days I take better care of my hair and have a couple of hair tools that, along with a heat protector,  help me to create that styled but natural look I love. Both of the tools are from Remington. The Remington Pearl Wand (£25.99) is a conical shaped wand with a digital display and adjustable heat setting. This comes with a heat protective glove which is really handy because you don’t want to burn yourself with something heated to 210 degrees – trust me! The reason you need the glove is because the wand doesn’t have a clamp like regular curling tongs so you have to hold your hair around the barrel for a few seconds, this creates a lovely curl in your hair because there is no crimping or kinking where the clamp was trapping it.

The picture below shows the overall look that this wand can create, I tend to let the curls cool down and then shake them out quite a lot with my fingers before spraying with a little bit of hairspray (I use L’Oreal Elnett Satin Lumiere). I can achieve this look in about 15 minutes so it’s definitely quick to do and pretty fool proof, the only thing to remember is to curl the front sections of hair away from your face for a more flattering finish.

Using Remington Pearl Wand

The other tool i have that I love and use all the time is the Remington Pro Big Curl  (£19.99). I've had this for quite a while now and when i looked it up they have redesigned it slightly and it now has a digital display unlike mine which is pictured. This also has an adjustable heat setting, and this one does have the clamp.

To achieve the look below I roll sections of the hair up vertically, as you would with a Velcro roller, and hold for a few seconds before releasing. This creates much bigger softer curls that I again like to tease out with my fingers to get a really natural but bouncy look. I know this style can be achieved by blow drying properly with a round brush but I’m not very good at doing it that way and my arms get tired! This way is just really quick and easy and I love the tousled ‘undone’ look it gives. The picture below shows the more casual way I wear this look, for an evening I would back comb the crown and sweep the long fringe across and then tuck behind my ear.

What do you think of these two looks? What are your favourite hair styling appliances?

  3. I used to do exactly the same with the sea and my hair! I live in Devon so the sea is mere minutes away and I used to do it ALL the time... horrendous for my hair but hey, you can't turn back time! Your hair looks lovely in both of these pictures! I've never tried a wand, might have to have a little experiment!
