Spring into Summer Make Up - Cream Blushes

1. Source, 2. Source

At this time of year when the weather shows some signs of improving and some of us have holidays on the horizon we can put the woolly jumpers, tights and winter boots away and bring out the Spring/Summer wardrobe. I always tend to adjust my make up at this time of year too, opting for a lighter base, brighter
colours and a dewier finish. One of the best products to instantly give your complexion a fresher look is a cream blusher so here's a little round up of some of the best (in my opinion!) currently on the market.

 1. Stila Convertible Colour. These are available in 9 gorgeous shades and cost £16. They are multi-purpose and can be worn on lips as well as cheeks although i find they work much better on the cheeks. They are pigmented enough without being overly heavy so they give a natural translucent flush and a very dewy finish. I love that they have a mirror in the lid as they are perfect to pop in your handbag.
2. Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and cheeks. This award-winning cream blush from Bobbi Brown is one of my personal favourites. It comes in 10 shades and costs £18, again this is packaged with the mirror in the lid and in the classic Bobbi Brown black and white style. This product is lovely to work with as its intensely pigmented but very creamy and easy to blend. It dries down to a more powder-like finish but still gives a fresher look than a powder blush and it lasts like nothing else!

 3. Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush is available in quite a limited shade range of four colours but the shades they have are quite diverse so there should be something that appeals for most people. The formulation of these is incredibly similar to Bobbi Brown's Pot Rouge and despite the basic packaging and limited colour range i think they are a fantastic value product at only £6.99 and if you're new to the world of cream blushes these are a great place to start.
4. YSL Creme de Blush. As with most things YSL this product stands out to me for the superior quality of product and the fact that YSL always do it a little bit differently, which being an Aquarian, i love! This cream blush has an almost air-whipped, spongy texture and is so light and soft it is a dream to work with. They give such a natural, even colour and blend away seamlessly with minimum effort. They dry down to a velvety finish and offer good staying power but again, they give that lighter, fresher look which is perfect for spring and summer. These will set you back an eye-watering £29 but in my opinion, if you can afford it, they are worth the money!

Given my love for all cream based products at this time of year, i am eagerly anticipating the launch of the latest high-street offering, but its not from just any high-street brand: Bourjois could be said to the the leaders of the high-street pack when it comes to blush, with their iconic small, round packaging (including the all important mirror!), rose scent and vast shade range. I have come across several professional MUA's who have some of these in their kit and Bourjois have now extended the line to include four cream-powder colours. 01 Nude Velvet & 02 Healthy Glow are in the peachy coral shade family whereas 03 Rose Tender and 04 Sweet Cherry are pink based and 01 and 04 give a matte colour with 02 and 03 offering a pearly finish.

The Bourjois Cream Blush comes in the same round packaging as the regular powder blush and will be available from 15th May from the usual stockists, although you can get hold of them now from Selfridges stores and Selfridges.com. The four shades offer something for every skin tone and the light, velvety texture is said to give a natural luminous finish. The formula is enriched with poppy, mango and apricot extract so it cares for your skin while you're wearing it and the finish is said to be very long lasting.
I for one can't wait to try these out and see if they are as impressive as the original Bourjois Blush; i have very high hopes! Will you be picking these up when they hit shelves later this month?
