September Favourites

Favourites time again! Where is this year going?! First up is a product i am obsessed with at the moment. Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel is a great alternative to the 'REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask' or 'Alpha H Liquid Gold' for those of you who prefer a mask to a liquid. I have been using it
as part of my once a week DIY facial followed with a hydrating mask and my skin literally glows afterwards. I can’t recommend this highly enough. I wrote a full review on it here.

My other skincare favourite from September is the Aveda Botanical Kinetics Toning Mist. I was in the market for a hydrating toner and i wanted a spray on one so i picked this up on a bit of a whim but i have really been enjoying using it. It's designed for normal/oily skin so it hydrates without leaving any sort of residue, i have a skincare post in the pipelines so I'll go into more detail about it in that but in a nutshell: It does what its supposed to do well, it doesn't contain any nasty ingredients and I've noticed an improvement in my skin since using it.

Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation in Beige Ivory has been the only foundation i have been reaching for this month, after a summer of lighter coverage products i totally fell in love with this again. It gives a flawless full coverage with a luminous satin finish that looks incredibly natural considering the level of coverage you get. I get some redness along my jaw but i don't need any additional concealer with this to cover it, and followed with a powder i get a good 7-8 hours wear so its great for those days when you are rushing around all day. Paired with my Bobbi Brown Corrector in light bisque I get as close to a flawless complexion as i think i ever will! Bobbi's famous corrector has made the cut this month because i have come to the conclusion that there is just no other product that does the job as well. Concealers are great but even a heavy duty full coverage one doesn't completely hide the darkness under my eyes when i'm run down and tired, but a touch of this uber creamy pink toned corrector underneath concealer makes the world of difference. It completely counteracts the blue tones so the concealer is sitting over a much more neutral shade so the colour will be truer on the skin.

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Varnish in 411 Navy Seal is the latest to my collection of the Salon Pro line, they are fast becoming my favourite nail varnishes because the formula is so long lasting - with a decent top coat my nails are chip free five days later - the brush is wide so application is really quick and easy, and the colour range is akin to a much higher price point. Case in point being this stunning deep cornflower blue which is the perfect compromise between pastel and dark. I rarely wear blue nails for fear of looking a bit teenage but this is a really sophisticated colour that I have happily worn to work and had plenty of compliments on. I LOVE it.

I might be showing my age here but i remember the first nail varnish remover that came in a pot with a sponge (i don't know how else to describe it!). There is no denying its quick and convenient but it was so harsh on my poor fingers that i was put off for life, or until recently when i heard some good things about the Magic Nail Polish Remover from Bourjois so picked it up on offer in Boots a few weeks ago to give the concept another chance. Well it seems that the formulation of these have changed since i was at school many moons ago because this one is infused with almond oil to nourish the skin and nails and it smells really nice. It definitely takes the hassle out of changing your nail polish and I've been loving it.

Last up is the Crest 3D White Whitening Strips Professional Effects. It's no secret that our friends over the pond do teeth whitening so much better than we do, you would be hard pushed to find an american with stained yellow teeth so it made sense to look to eBay and pay slightly over the odds for a product that might actually make a noticeable difference. I've heard countless good things about the Crest Whitening Strips so i thought I'd give them a shot and i was not disappointed, even after two uses i could see a change but i will say this - If you suffer from sensitive teeth *proceed with caution*! I generally don't have sensitive teeth but these made my teeth so uncomfortable for a full day after use meaning i could only use them every third day. Its just a temporary discomfort but worth noting.

Have any of you tried any of my favourites? What was your favourite product this month?

  4. I am currently trying Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser and have to say I'm quite disappointed. Won't buy again. Will stick to Chanel - I found their foundations the best.

    1. I think its all down to personal preference really. I'm not a fan of the Chanel bases, i guess what works for one doesn't always work for another. x

  7. Hi Anna! I am intrigued about the Murad mask as I love both Alpha H and the Ren mask-it's going on the wish list!! As is the Aveda!! I fancy trying their hydrating mask too-the one in the clear tube.
I am so disappointed I didnt get on with the LM foundation, whatever i did with it it just settled in every single pore and looked awful, I wanted to love it SO much!!

  10. I have tried Crest and they actually work :) but
I think it makes your teeth too sensitive. I use Stella white strips now and
have no problem at all :)
