Butter London Nail Lacquer in 'Toff' Reveiw

Butter London are a brand i gravitate toward every time i'm looking for a new nail colour. I don't know if it's the sophisticated packaging, the witty, quintessentially British names (My faves are No more waity Katie, Sloane Ranger and Dodgy Barnett!) or the colour range which is made up of some really gorgeous, unique
colours. There are plenty of glitters if that's what tickles your fancy but i tend to reach more often for flatter, opaque colours and 'Toff' is one of my absolute favourites.

Basically when it comes to colour, if its hard to describe then i probably like it! Any of those colours that are a bit like 'this' with a touch of 'that' and an undertone of 'the other' are going to be a hit with me for two reasons: I think they are more interesting to look at than say a true red, and i also think they tend to look more sophisticated. Its almost as if more attention has gone into creating the perfect blend of colour. I feel the same about most high end makeup - i get asked a lot 'why do you spend money on high end products when there are really great affordable alternatives available that do the same job'? And my answer is that i feel like there is just that extra bit of attention to detail that goes into every aspect of higher end products. The differences might be subtle but they make all the difference to me!

I would describe 'Toff' as a heather/mauve shade with a brown undertone. Butter London describe it as a darker, dustier brownish variation of a Rose colour. In terms of formula it is a really creamy, glossy consistency that applies well and dries to an even, opaque cover. You could get away with one coat if you were in a hurry but i like two coats just to give that really deep, intense coverage, and with my usual Seche Vite topcoat over the top it lasts a good five days. It also looks really nice with a matte topcoat, i use the models own one.

Which is your favourite Butter London shade? I am eyeing up the 'Petrol' overcoat and i'm also lusting after 'Chancer' which seems like the perfect festive red glitter!

  2. I really like the texture of Butter London polishes. I just always struggle to find stockists, which is a shame as I adore this colour! I do love Chancer too though, you need to add that to you collection!
