My most used MAC Brushes - Eyes

L-R: 239, 224, 217, 263

I really find that the quality of the brushes you use makes just as much of a difference to your makeup as the quality of the products and i love MAC for the variety and consistency of quality across the range. These are four of my most used eye brushes; you can see how well loved they are by the disappearing logos!

I use the 263 angled brush to fill in my brows and line around the eye with powder products, its dense enough to pick up products but has just enough flex in it to give a nice flick or natural hair-like strokes in the brow.

When it comes to packing on colour to the eyelid there is no better brush than the 239 in my opinion. It has a great shape and has the right density and movement to pick up product and place it on the skin in a concentrated amount. Out of all the MAC brushes i own this is my favourite and i will keep buying them because you can never have too many!

Top - bottom: 263, 217, 224, 239

The other two eye brushes i love and use on a daily basis are both blending brushes. The 224 is a really soft, medium sized dome shape brush which is brilliant for both blending out shadow and buffing in or setting concealer under the eye. If you have small eyes, you might find the 224 is a bit big but the 217 is great if you need to be slightly more precise. Its oval shaped rather than dome and ever so slightly firmer, so gives you a little bit more control, but it's still really soft and makes blending out colour so easy.

MAC definitely aren't the cheapest brand when it comes to brushes; these come in at £16.50 for the 263, £18 for the 217, £22.50 for the 224 and £20 for the 239, but i think these four are an investment (or a good place to start!) because they are all you need to create a really polished eye look.

Do you have any of these brushes? Or any other favourite MAC brushes?

  1. The 217 and 263 are such staples for me too! Also want to try the angled fluffy brush - think it's the 275? Beauty is 10% off at Debenhams at the moment very tempted! xx

Could you do a post like this on face brushes in general, too? I think this one was really helpful! :) xx
