February Favourites!

I don't usually like to wish away time because it goes by fast enough as it is but i have to say i've been looking forward to seeing the back of Feb. I hate winter! I know i've said it before but i am glad we are waving goodbye to the miserable months and by the next favourites post we will be back to lighter evenings again - yippee! So what got the seal of approval this month? Read on...
I would hazard a guess that Tanya Burr's lip gloss and nail varnish collection will be cropping up in lots of peoples monthly favourites this month following their release in January and rightly so. She has done amazingly well and it’s really nice to see such a lovely girl become so successful. The gloss in Afternoon Tea is my pick of the bunch; the formula is really nice – creamy as opposed to sticky and they are nicely pigmented so you get a good colour pay-off for a gloss. I love this shade, it’s a gorgeous natural pink that seems to suit my colouring and work equally as well on a pared-down make up day or with a stronger, smoky eye and I've been wearing loads since the end of January. They are really reasonably priced too at £6.99.

I got the the Malin & Goetz Mojito candle as a birthday present from my best friend who must have had access to my wishlist because I've been lusting after it for ages! I love Mojitos, I love mint and I love lime so this was a no-brainer and I’m happy to report it smells exactly as you hope it would. It’s fresh but not overpoweringly citrusy or synthetic and I think it’s really uplifting. The scent throw is really good, but I would have been disappointed if it wasn't for the price because for £37 they're not cheap. Think i need the dark rum one now to burn alongside it for the full mojito experience – some people are never satisfied!

Another birthday present that I've reached for nearly every day in February is the Blackberry and Bay Cologne from Jo Malone (£39 for 30ml). I am completely in love with this fragrance, it’s fruity and fresh but has a bit of depth to it and unlike some fruity fragrances this one isn't at all sweet, it’s almost quite tart which I love. It’s a departure from the heavy, musky scents I usually gravitate towards but a change is good for the soul and this makes me feel ready for spring so I'm sure it will continue to be a favourite in the coming months.

My skin has been looking worse than ever for the last couple of months. For some people it’s still probably not that bad because I've been blessed with quite good skin generally but for me it has added to feeling pretty rubbish. I've had quite a few blemishes and my skin just looked dull and uneven. I have definitely noticed an improvement in February through and I would credit it largely to the Afterglow serum from Neuth; the redness in my cheeks and along my jaw has really subsided and my skin is starting to look less tired and lackluster.  It’s more of a facial oil than a serum containing only three ingredients: Organic Rosehip Oil, Organic Unrefined Coconut oil and Lavender essential oil. I'm not a fan of the scent of lavender but I can definitely put up with it for a product that seems to work so well for my skin. I’ll be reviewing this and a cream cleanser from the same brand soon so keep an eye out for that.

My latest nail obsession is the Sally Hanson Complete Salon Manicure in 370 Commander in Chic (£6.99). I picked this up on a whim having made a mental note a while back after reading the formula of these polishes was good and i have not been disappointed. It hasn't left my nail since i got it, mainly because it hasn't needed to! It lasted the best part of two weeks without any chips when i paired it with my Leighton denny base coat and the trusty Seche Vite topcoat which i think is pretty good going and the shade is lovely - i can't resist a good greige!
Makeup wise the standout product of the month for me has been the  Dior 3 Couleurs Glow in 951 Rosewood Glow (£35) which unfortunately i think was limited edition although i think they make the Glow trio's in other shades and there are still the odd one floating around online (here). This one is well worth looking out for though because its stunning. The compact is made up of a satin eyeshadow in a lilacy-taupe shade which is so buttery it blends like a dream, a matte black to give definition to the lash line and then the star of the show, the highlight, or Glow shade which is so finely milled its not shimmery or glittery, it just gives the eyelids a wet, glossy look. Its just beautiful. I might do a full review if you would be interested to see some pictures?

Have you tried any of these? What were your favourites in Feb?

There are still some bargains to be had in my blog sale - check it out here!

  1. I haven't tried too many Jo Malone Fragrances but when I was at the counter recently, the assistant suggested mixing Blackberry and Bay with the Cucumber-y one (can't remember it's name) and they smelt incredible together! Wish I had the budget for them xx

I loved this post Anna-filled with such lovely things! Am tempted to pick up the Malin and Goetz candles-whenever I am home there is always a candle burning somewhere in the house and they sound so good!

I have one of those Dior Glow compacts but I don't think I have ever used it-I must dig it out xxx

  3. I really loved the one Tanya Burr lipgloss I've tried - Champagne Toast. The formula is just so nice, although I really wasn't impressed with the nail polish. I'd love to try this shade next, it's so pretty and wearable! xx
